Religious Education
Three Sacramental programs are taught at St Peter's, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Children in Stage 2 (Year 3 & 4) receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist every odd year, while every even year (2016, 2018 etc) children in Yr 5/6 are confirmed. The dedication of the teachers and the faith-filled response of the children is always a highlight for us all. We thank our priest and bishop for their support and confidence. A commitment mass for the sacramental programs are held at the weekend to reinforce our place within the parish. Reconciliation is held in our Church on an evening to give our parents the opportunity to receive this wonderful sacrament with their children.
Our school is committed to social justice and we want our students to walk the path of Jesus and live out their Christian mission to reach out to all in need. Our fundraising work through Project Compassion, Catholic Mission and St Vincent de Paul gives students the opportunity to raise much needed funds for those in need both locally and abroad.
At least twice a term we gather as a Eucharistic community at a whole school Mass. These may to be celebrate the beginning of the school year, a feast day or other significant event. Outside of our Eucharistic celebrations and class prayers we celebrate paraliturgies on a regular basis both in class and whole school groups.
